Visitors to the SEE What You Are Buying Into website (the 'SEE website') are able to nominate companies (or other entities) that they would like to join the SEE What You Are Buying Into scheme (the 'SEE scheme') which was created and is operated by SEE What You Are Buying Into Ltd (hereafter referred to as 'SEE Ltd').

The following sets out the basis on which SEE Ltd receives nominations and manages the nomination process:

  1. Nomination by a web user or other stakeholder
  2. Publication on the List of Nominated Companies
  3. Validation of the nomination
  4. When a nomination fails to meet requirements
  5. Company informed of their nomination
  6. Right to reply
  7. The period of nomination
  8. Multiple nominations
  9. Complaints and disputes

1. Nomination by a web user or other stakeholder

Using the form provided, any person visiting the SEE website is able to nominate a company to participate in the SEE scheme.

Each person is required to provide their name, a contact email address, an indication of their relationship with the company, and their reason for nominating it. Failure to provide such information may invalidate the nomination. The website address of the nominated company should also be provided, where known, to reduce the chance of any ambiguity as to which company is nominated. SEE Ltd will not pass on or disclose a nominator's full name or email address and will only identify the person by means of their initial(s) and/or their stated relationship to the nominated company and their reasons for nominating it.
SEE Ltd reserves the right to accept nominations received in writing by post, or other means, and complete the webform on behalf of a nominator.

2. Publication on the List of Nominated Companies

The name and website address of the proposed company is published on the List of Nominated Companies. A unique ID number is provided against each nomination as it is published. The list is amended automatically whenever a user submits new data.
The initial status is 'nomination received by SEE'. SEE Ltd will change the status (to 'awaiting response', and 'response received') as the nomination progresses.
Users can follow the progress of each nomination by means of its ID number and changing status by visiting the List of Nominated Companies page on the SEE website at any time.

3. Validation of the nomination

Staff at SEE Ltd will check each nomination to ensure that it meets the minimum requirement of a completed nomination form and does not breach the general Terms and Conditions for using the website e.g. using intemperate or abusive language.

4. When a nomination fails to meet requirements

To avoid ambiguity, a nomination requires the name and website address of a company. If the nomination is ambiguous for other reasons, it may still not be validated.
Occasionally, the nominator may be contacted by email by SEE Ltd and encouraged to resubmit their proposal if it is valid but for some minor point.

An invalid or inappropriate nomination will be rejected and removed from the List of Nominated Companies. This is apparent by the gap in the sequential ID numbers.
SEE Ltd reserves the right to publish, on the SEE website, details of relevant problems and issues about the nomination, any correspondence concerning the same and the decision reached by it in each circumstance.

The decision of SEE Ltd in accepting nominations is final.

5. Company informed of their nomination

When a nomination is accepted, an email will be sent from SEE Ltd to the nominated company. If this is not possible because a suitable contact email address cannot be found, SEE Ltd may contact the company by using a contact form on its business website. Where no suitable email or webform can be found, SEE Ltd may pass on the nomination via post, or by calling or visiting the nominated company in person or by any other suitable means.
Once the nomination has been passed on, the nomination status indicated on the List of Nominated Companies on this website will change to 'awaiting response'.

6. Right to reply

Every nominated company will be invited to choose one of the following possible options by way of initial response:

  • Company to seek SEE listing
  • Nomination under consideration
  • Company will not seek a SEE listing
  • Company does not consent to publishing its response

In addition, SEE Ltd is prepared to publish any reasons given, any correspondence that a nominated company may choose to enter into or, if agreed by the company, a paraphrased version of any reasons or correspondence to illuminate the evaluation and decision-making processes within that company and the issues at stake.

Once a response has been received from the nominated company, the status on the List of Nominated Companies will change to 'response received'.

7. The period of nomination

If there is no response from a nominated company, the nomination will remain open for an indeterminate period and the status of the nomination, 'awaiting response', will remain on the List of Nominated Companies.

8. Multiple nominations

Any company may be nominated more than once. It could be that a single company is nominated by several individuals, or a single individual may nominate the same company several times. Irrespective, all multiple nominations will be treated as individual and distinct nominations and assigned a unique ID number. The full history of nominations will be available on the List of Nominated Companies.

9. Complaints and disputes

SEE Ltd has a complaints handling and dispute resolution process in place (see section 16 and 17 of the Licensing Terms for details) should a complaint or dispute arise as a result of a company nomination by a web user.
SEE Ltd reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to publish on the SEE website details of the complaint and any decision reached in relation to the complaint.
Building and maintaining trust in the SEE scheme is a crucial part of our contract with each client company and other stakeholders. SEE Ltd will act in good faith, and deal fairly and openly with mistakes when they are made. SEE Ltd will acknowledge serious factual errors and correct mistakes quickly and clearly. Inaccuracy risks the integrity of the whole SEE scheme and the SEE logo and the reputation of SEE Ltd and its clients. SEE Ltd reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to publish details of any and all mistakes and the corrective action taken to remedy them.
