General Use of Website T&Cs

  1. Acceptance of these terms

    By using http://www.seewhatyouarebuyinginto.com/ or https://admin.seewhatyouarebuyinginto.com/ (the SEE Questionnaire Manager website, hereafter the 'SQM'), collectively referred to hereafter as the 'SEE websites' or 'the websites' or 'these websites', you are deemed to have automatically accepted and are bound by these terms, which take effect immediately on your first use of these websites. SEE What You Are Buying Into Ltd (hereafter "SEE Ltd") recommends that you read these terms carefully before using these websites as they affect your legal rights. If you do not agree to be bound by all of the following terms please do not access, use and/or otherwise contribute to these websites. If there is any conflict between these Terms and specific local terms or legal notices appearing elsewhere on the SEE websites (including rules for submissions) then the latter shall prevail.

  2. Revision of these terms

    SEE Ltd may change these Terms from time to time (at its sole discretion) and any new version will take effect from the date of posting it on the SEE websites. Therefore, if you use the SEE websites regularly, you should also check these terms regularly. Your continued use of the SEE websites will be deemed acceptance of any updated or amended terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should cease using these websites.

  3. Using the website for lawful purposes

    You agree to use the SEE websites only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of them. Prohibited behaviour includes: harassing or causing distress to any person; transmitting threatening, defamatory, obscene or offensive content; breaching confidence or privacy; and transmitting material with the intention of committing or promoting an illegal act.

    SEE Ltd is likely to fully co-operate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing it to disclose the identity of, or locate, anyone posting material in breach of this provision, undertaking any illegal activity on or through these websites or otherwise acting in breach of these Terms and/or the general law.

  4. Liability when using this website

    You assume all responsibility and risk for your use of the SEE websites. SEE Ltd does not warrant that functions available on the website will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that it is free of viruses or bugs. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to implement sufficient procedures and virus checks (including anti-virus and other security checks) to satisfy your own particular requirements for the accuracy of data input and output.

    SEE Ltd shall have no liability whatsoever in respect of the following losses or damage (whether foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise): (a) loss of data; (b) loss of revenue or anticipated profits; (c) loss of business; (d) loss of opportunity; (e) loss of goodwill or injury to reputation; (f) losses suffered by third parties; or (g) any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the SEE websites, regardless of the form of action.

  5. Please don't mess around

    You are prohibited from attempting to interfere with, disrupt or overload the proper working of the websites, or any search, transaction or other process being conducted on or through the SEE websites. You are not permitted to attempt, or to undertake any action to probe the security of the website or to access any part of the SEE websites which is expressly confidential (e.g. the SQM online tool). You are prohibited from gaining access to any data on or through the websites which is not intended for public use.

  6. Copyright and intellectual property

    All copyright, trade marks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights (registered and unregistered) in and on the SEE websites and all content (including all applications) located on the site shall remain vested in SEE Ltd or in the SEE listed companies (the entities licensed to use the SEE Logo). You may not use the content of the SEE website in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use of the SEE website content requires the prior written permission of SEE Ltd.

    Please do not be put off from asking as we do encourage the dissemination of information about the SEE scheme, but please ask first. It is important that you ask for permission if your intended purposes result, directly or indirectly, in commercial gain but again, we will try our best to help you. Contact us here.

    The names, images and logos identifying www.SEEWhatYouAreBuyingInto.com, the SEE scheme and SEE Ltd, or third parties and their products and services, are subject to copyright, design rights and trade marks of SEE Ltd and/or third parties.

    Nothing contained in these terms shall be construed as conferring any licence or right to use any trade mark, design right or copyright of SEE Ltd or any other third party.

Submission of questions, challenges, nominations & comments

  1. Types of submission to the site

    Submissions to the SEE websites can be made in the following ways:
    - by submitting information via the SQM;
    - by commenting on the answers companies have provided to the SEE Questionnaire ('comments');
    - by challenging the accuracy of companies' information ('challenges');
    - by nominating companies to become SEE listed and join the SEE scheme ('nominations'); and
    - by suggesting questions for inclusion in future versions of the SEE Questionnaire ('suggestions').
    For the sake of the clarity and brevity of these Terms, comments, challenges, nominations and suggestions are collectively referred to as 'submissions'.

  2. Moderation and editing of submissions

    SEE Ltd may moderate submissions before or after they are posted on this website. This is to protect the integrity of the SEE scheme. However, if a submission meets the common-sense rules set out below, it will generally be/remain published.

    Your nominations and suggestions may be edited, for readability or length for example, before publication, and/or revised subsequent to any automatic publication on these websites.

    We do not guarantee to publish all submissions. Submissions may be reviewed periodically. Older ones or repetitive ones may be removed.

  3. Passing on submissions to SEE listed companies

    SEE listed companies also receive the un-moderated comments, with the exception of challenges which are sent initially only to SEE Ltd so as to protect the identity of a complainant before investigation of the complaint is made. The companies may respond directly to the posting if the comment maker provides his or her email address and gives SEE Ltd permission to have it passed on. Our Licensing Terms and Conditions require that SEE listed companies respect your privacy and use your personal details, where you provide them, to the same high standards as set out here under these Use of Website Terms and Conditions.

  4. Common sense rules about submissions

    We are completely committed to being open, honest and informative. To achieve this, we ask that your submissions are polite, relevant and helpful. We are working together, in a spirit of cooperation, to change the world for good.

    Therefore:
    - Submissions should be true expression of your own honest, personal opinions. Please try to be constructive and helpful.
    - Submissions should be kept to a reasonable length. Longer submissions may be edited or removed if automatically posted.
    - Untruthful, unlawful, unfair, defamatory, sarcastic, harmful, abusive, threatening, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable.
    - No advertising or spamming will be allowed. Off-topic or repetitive material is not helpful so it is not acceptable.
    - Submissions should not include URLs (website addresses) unless expressly requested.
    - It is not acceptable to impersonate someone else, nor to adopt an inappropriate, vulgar or offensive name.

  5. About the law

    Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act is strictly prohibited. You may not post any defamatory or illegal material of any nature through the submissions systems.

    You agree to only post materials to which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, or proprietary rights.

  6. Anonymity and privacy

    SEE Ltd will not publish or provide your email address on the public website. A valid personal email address, for an email account that you access regularly, is required if you challenge the accuracy of a company's information so that SEE Ltd can contact you before initiating an investigation. SEE Ltd also requests you provide your email address when you make submissions so that we can contact you and ask you about details or aspects of your submission that may not be obvious or may need explanation.

    Never reveal any personal information about yourself in your submission, such as your telephone number, mobile phone number, school name or home address.

    If you fail to abide by these submission rules and/or the SEE What You Are Buying Into Terms and Conditions, your submissions will not be approved for publication on this website or they will be removed if they have been published automatically.

    SEE Ltd reserves the right to reject or delete any submission, at any time, for any reason.

  1. Respecting confidentiality and privacy

    While fully committed to transparency, SEE Ltd respects personal and commercial privacy. SEE Ltd believes that the responsible use of company or personal information collected on these websites is critical to its business objectives and reputation. SEE Ltd will collect certain personal and/or business information on and through these websites. We undertake not to use personal details, comments or commercial information for any purpose other than those expressly envisaged within these Terms.

  2. Collecting personal information

    The extent and type of information that SEE Ltd receives on these websites depends on the information provided to SEE Ltd through devices on the SQM, contact webform, comment, challenge, nomination and suggestion mechanisms and/or through the registration processes on these websites. SEE Ltd reserves the right to internally discuss issues arising from information obtained through these websites, but we will never knowingly or recklessly breach the confidentiality of any client company or website user.

    SEE Ltd will only use personally identifiable information to respond to requests from a company, or a request or complaint from a website user or to provide a company with information about its services, unless SEE Ltd obtains permission to use any such personally identifiable information for any other purposes.

    For example, if you send SEE Ltd an email message requesting a subscription to the free e-newsletter, SEE Ltd will use your email address and other information supplied to respond to that request.

  3. Using personal information to manage and improve the SEE scheme

    SEE Ltd will also automatically collect personally identifiable information to identify the location of users, the number of visits from different countries and also to block disruptive use. Such data will only be used to analyse and improve the services offered on the SEE websites and the quality of the SEE scheme.

    Aggregated and anonymized data collected via the SEE websites is potentially of use to the SEE Partners. From time to time, SEE Ltd may make such data available to them for purposes such as research and policy development.

    SEE Ltd may contact you for the following reasons:
    - When you have opted to participate in further correspondence.
    - In relation to a submission you have made to the SEE scheme, in particular a challenge to a SEE listed company's information or a suggestion for a new question for the SEE Questionnaire.
    - To invite you to participate in surveys to improve the SEE websites and the SEE scheme (participation is always voluntary).
    - For marketing purposes, where you have specifically agreed to this (see paragraph below).
    SEE Ltd will not contact you for marketing purposes, or to promote new services, unless you have specifically agreed to be contacted about such matters.

    The SEE websites may employ 'cookies' (i.e. small text files placed on your computer). Cookies may be used to: (a) store email addresses and names entered by website visitors; and (b) to store information submitted via web forms. We do not use cookies to track users across these websites, or across the internet, in any way. We do not create individual user profiles.

    The failure or delay of SEE Ltd to exercise or enforce any right in these Terms does not waive SEE Ltd's right to enforce that right.
