Business Introduction

Description of business

Located in Aldgate, London, Happy is split into three divisions, all of which are based at the one location.

Happy Computers: The core of Happy is our IT training division. You won't find any lectures at Happy. All our courses are designed to involve delegates to the full, ensuring active learning.

Happy People focuses on creating a great workplace and Management and Development training. We specialise in working with dynamic fast growing organisations to help them become more effective and productive.

Happy eLearning creates online learning materials that reflect the same principles as our classroom delivery, ensuring the learner is actively involved. They provide a mixture of bespoke and off-the-shelf applications, the leading product being for the European Computer Driving License.

We have now set up Happy North, with permanent trainers based in the North-West and can deliver across the UK and beyond.

Business vision

Be passionate about our people, our business, our service

Produce the best or nothing at all

Make a difference in the world

Be a great place to work

Celebrate diversity & be accessible to all

Always there for each other

Make work fun, make learning fun

Business aims

Happy' mission is to create new ways of training & empowering people to reach their full potential. We seek to create an enjoyable environment in which students can relax, make mistakes and learn in a supportive environment. The working environment should also reflect this fun, relaxed (but dynamic) approach. This is the Spirit of the Company.

At our core is positive thinking and enthusiasm in everything we do.

Business philosophies and beliefs

Celebrate our Mistakes
As part of the whole support philosophy of Happy we believe in celebrating our mistakes and not blaming others. If you make a mistake, Celebrate it! Learn from your mistakes and move on!

Empower our People
People are our greatest asset at Happy. We have a responsibility for their training and for their personal growth while they are working with us. We will always look for ways to enable people to push back their personal limits and to reach their full potential. If we treat our people excellently then we will receive excellent work in return.

Excellence in Everything We Do
We must strive to ensure that everything we do, we do excellently. We always look to provide the best possible service. This means that, however satisfied our customers, we must never be complacent. We must always ask how things could be better. If we cannot provide a truly excellent service, then Happy should not be providing that service at all.

The Customer Comes First
The customer is the whole reason for our existence and their needs must come first, above what is most convenient for ourselves. We must listen carefully to all our customers and strive to find out (and to find new ways to find out) what they need and how we can help them. If we cannot serve our customers better than our competitors (or at the same level for a lower price) then we should not be providing that particular service.

Innovation - Go Make Mistakes!
We must look for innovation in everything we do at Happy - and particularly in the training process. A core element of Happy's mission is to find new ways to enable people to regain that capacity and that eagerness. Experimenting and innovation are crucial in this process. We must try out new ways of doing things and celebrate the mistakes we make along the way. If you're not making any mistakes, then you're not taking any risks, you're not trying new ideas - either that, or you're the ice-cream freezer. That never makes mistakes.

Have Fun!
We are in the business of empowering people and helping them to learn new skills. That is a challenging, but potentially very enjoyable experience. We must take delight in the process, including the obstacles and blockages which appear to get in the way. Relax and have fun. This isn't a stressful environment - we work very hard, but because we enjoy what we do.

Business Values

Tell me and I forget.
Show me and I remember.
Involve me and I understand.

People learn best by doing it for themselves.

Remember Lao Tzu: 'With a good teacher, the students think they did it themselves.'

Business mission

Our business is to empower people to reach their full potential.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality training in the UK, setting standards which others follow.

We strive for innovation to make this company an exceptional place to learn and work.

Community Relations

Community Relations is about a business in a social and economic context. A business can strongly influence the quality of life not only for employees, but also for the wider community in which it operates. It is recognised that a sustainable community promotes sustainable business.

Corporate Governance

Corporate governance is about how a business is structured and whether rights, responsibilities and duties are clearly set out and understood. These issues are critical in maintaining accountability and providing strong decision-making functions.

This section provides an opportunity for a company to indicate how it remains honest, transparent, equitable and reputable in its conduct. These objectives are relevant to any business whether large or small.

Donations and Payments

To whom and exactly how companies make donations and payments, including those to charitable organisations, professional associations and government, are extremely complex issues. It is important that companies disclose their corporate donations, publish their payments and explain what they hope or expect to receive in return.

Environment

Natural resources are vital to sustain our lives and lifestyle. This section looks at the impact business operations have on the physical environment. It is not always easy to address the challenges, but companies have the opportunity to show the problems they face and how they tackle them.

Human Rights

This section is about how businesses ensure that their operations do not violate the fundamental rights of individuals and communities at home or abroad. Businesses have the opportunity to examine this issue with regards to their own practices, supply chains and business relationships.

Marketplace Ethics

This section is about how businesses handle consumer rights and wider welfare issues. Many of the questions cover areas where there is a fair amount of legislation and regulation: it is an opportunity for businesses to show how they go beyond a legal minimum to address ethical issues in the marketplace.

Workforce

It is widely acknowledged that people are the most valuable asset to any business. In this topic, the questions are addressing the treatment of workforce. It is quite diverse but the focus is on promoting a fair, equitable, honest and supportive work environment.
